Help Fund John's Nutcracker House Display!
John Carrington is the principal harpist with the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra. For the past 6 years, John has brought his neighbors and the Seattle community a bit of seasonal joy with his display of the Maurice Sendak Nutcracker.
Each Nutcracker piece was given to John by the ballet's prop masters when the Sendak show was replaced by the George Balanchine version. Over the years, John has grown the display to what it is today, over a dozen lighted pieces on exhibit in his front lawn and in the windows of his fairy tale house in Ballard, including a 15-foot tall Nutcracker.
John and his partner Scott have generously absorbed the costs for storage, repair and maintenance, and the set-up and lighting costs for the display. Covid19 has impacted PNB’s schedule, resulting in John being furloughed from the Pacific Northwest Ballet.
Please help John and Scott with the costs to maintain this holiday exhibit of the Nutcracker. The rich heritage of the Nutcracker in the Pacific Northwest has brought visitors from throughout the region to admire and appreciate and remember this iconic performance when visiting John’s front yard. The display brings a smile to all of us who see it, and every donation will ensure this display will continue to be available for us in the coming years.
Their display can be seen until the first week of January on Loyal Ave NW in Seattle.
Thank you.
