NUUK [new-k]​ ​ Neighbourhood Nature Network​ ​

Hello my name is Ik and I am Bayswater resident 25 years, opposite Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace, where Kate and Will live!​

Recently, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder with a type of personality disorder. ​At the age 47, and after some times of stress, I see things were more serious than I realised.​

But by getting my diagnosis, together with the incredible support of my wonderful family, Newton Medical Centre and other services - I am moving in a forward flow -- active, asking and contributing.​

On the bipolar side, my thinking is usually in over drive, excitedly about different projects and possibilities. ​

NUUK stands for Neighbourhood Nature Network. It is based in the W2 area of London.​

And my plan is to grow a local urban nature network, covering Queensway and beyond!​

With a background in horticulture, catering, food waste farming and soil science, I think there are excellent opportunities to increase the biodiversity and greening up of my local neighbourhood!​

Plus my two Silkie chickens, Rosa and Lilly, are "eggcellent" at signposting where the worms are for the neighbourhood robins and sparrows! The Robins always come when the chickens are foraging!!​

I’ve started this GoFundMe page to generate a working budget to take a few first step in this adventure and help set things up.​

Some recording/film equipment, a website that is linked to social channels such as Instagram, X, and YouTube!​ From there, I can start to build a social campaign with local business, services, schools, churches, mosques and synagogues. ​

I can also look for financial sources of local support and set up a ‘Habitat Bank’ for the community.​

​

I would also be able raise awareness about my mental health condition by talking to others – my newly discovered neurodiversity!​

With the money raised, my short-term priorities are

1. Map the W2 area to identify the green estate potential. ​

2. Ask neighbours and business how they want to be involved.​

3. Co-partner with health including the Community Mental Health Hub.​

4. Explore with local GP surgeries prescribing nature based activities and much more!
