Emergency Vet Financial Support for Nux & Miya
Donation protected
My name is Camille, I’m a friend of Miya’s, & both her & her sick furbaby Nux have been going through a horrible experience and the situation is only getting worse. They have been in & out of the ER with Nux for his medical emergencies for so long, on top of Miya’s income being impacted due to Nux’s current health conditions needing constant care & observation, her industry job as a makeup artist, & a recent car accident that she was in yesterday (2/28).
Added to that is a long list of drawn out medical procedures and mounting vet bills. This is every pet owner’s worst nightmare. The reality is that after weeks and weeks, her resources are depleted and whatever you can spare would allieviate to this battle. The funds raised will go to all of Nux’s medical bills ($20,000), with a small portion to cover the fees GoFundMe takes out.
Miya has provided a summary of the medical process for Nux:
“I went in for a routine check up and discovered Nux had gone into heart failure. I was told he had congenital heart disease. The vets were able to drain the fluid from his lungs and give him oxygen, but unfortunately, didn’t notify me how serious it was. Nux went into heart failure a second time. He stayed overnight in the ER & went through the same procedure. The cardiologist and emergency care were amazing & came up with a treatment plan, but also told me I may have a month to a year left with him at most.
He responded well to his new meds, but still had some fluid in his lungs, so during the follow up we upped his meds even though it would be harder on the kidneys. He was doing ok until a few days ago when he couldn’t get up. I took him back to the ER. His potassium levels were low and causing pain in his back. He was sent home with supplements and pain meds but he rapidly declined. Back at the ER a fourth time they administered more pain medication and kept him longer. He seemed stressed and didn’t want to eat, so they thought it would be better if he was discharged. By the time I took him home again he was not well. He was lying prone on the ground and couldn’t lift his head or walk. He couldn’t eat, drink water, or urinate which is key for his heart medications.
In the morning they let me bring him back, and because he had declined so much they kept him there on a potassium injection and iv for dehydration. It’s touchy with the IV because of possible fluid build up in his lungs. He improved the next day on the potassium injection but now his kidney values are high and so they are treating him for that and he has to stay overnight again.
I’ve had him since he was so small. It’s so difficult to be home without him.”
Miya is a compassionate, kind, supportive & wonderful friend who too often quietly bears her burdens alone to not put others out. She’s been through so much between the Hollywood strike affecting her income, car accidents, & now her furbaby Nux, one of the sweetest & most personable kitties, struggling with health emergencies. Anything you can give will help to alleviate things, & if you can’t give, a share of the campaign will go a long way.
Thank you sincerely, for your care & generosity,
Camille
