Nux's Liver Needs Surgery
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Ashley and I am raising funds to help with costs that we've already accrued as well as ones that we will be accruing to take care of our dog, Nux. We adopted Nux back in 2016. He was our first baby. He's always been our little side-kick that we take with us anywhere we can. Unfortunately, about a month ago, he quit eating like normal and was a lot more lethargic than normal.
We have been going through appointments with our incredible vet team - multiple tests/imaging - etc. Last week, the vet called me during his test to inform me that she felt something and asked our permission to do radiographs. We said yes. She found a mass in his abdominal cavity. We were devastated.
Today - 12.07.2023 - we took him to a specialist for an ultrasound to see where the mass was attached (if it was) and what next steps would be. We got a tiny bit of information - ie - It is attached to his liver - not spleen. The doctor stated a liver mass has a much better prognosis than a spleen mass (he would need a lobectomy - that's what the surgery is called). However, he cannot tell if it's cancer or not. He stated if it is cancer, if it hasn't metastasized, Nux could still have a good quality of life/life expectancy after surgery is completed.
We are in the process of reaching out and getting with one of the many specialists that we were provided, to check on next steps/how quickly we can get him seen/the surgeons feedback, etc.
I hate asking for help and I know it's the holidays but we're also trying to do everything we can to help our boy. Seeing him so lethargic and not eating like normal has been really hard on us. We really appreciate anything - including shares.
I have shared the assessment/plan photo from the specialist today for transparency.
(Oh, and we also found out that Nux is missing his left kidney!)
Thank you for taking the time to read this! <3
