Evicted From Home

I feel so utterly embarrassed and at a loss. Our family, like many, was affected by the pandemic. Eric, my husband, lost his job in 2020, and decided to just try and go back to school. I was left as the soul provider for our family of four, plus four cats.

As time went on, streaming (which is where I get my income on Twitch) has been up and down and not very fruitful. We were relying on my husband’s GI Bill as he went to school to pay our monthly rent. Unfortunately, the VA stopped paying him and no matter how much we have tried to call and fix it since last summer, there has been no fix. With this, we had to go to rental assistance to help us pay for our home.

Rental assistance was able to help us and to pay back 100% of the rent we owed for 2021, but when we applied again they said they were working on it and over months and months of waiting to hear word and continuously calling, they ran out of funding and left us without any options.

Eric had been applying to jobs left and right the past few months for IT since he now has some certification in it, but nothing has contacted him back once. He’s applied to 100’s of places by this point and it’s disheartening to know we are trying so hard and can’t succeed.

So now, Oct 3, we got an eviction notice that none of us saw, and today, while I was streaming, the sheriffs showed up and had us grab a little of what we could and get out.

Our cats are still in our home without us and my son is at school as i write this. I’m lost. I’m so so so lost.

I hate letting people in about this because I am so truly embarrassed, but… Please, we are begging for help. We have no where to go.
