A Girl Like Me Inc Prom Night

Hi, I'm Tyra Moore, the founder of A Girl Like Me Inc, A Girl Like Me Inc is a non-profit organization that helps Girls, Teens, Teen Moms, and Young Moms between the ages of 11 and 25. We provide free diapers, wipes, baby milk and food. New and gently used baby items, clothing, shoes, and personal hygiene kits. We also offer resources and a mentoring program for Girls, Teens and Teen Moms between the ages of 11 to 17. We strive to help all Girls, Teens, Teen Moms, and Young Moms with the struggles they may be facing.

 

From personal experience of being pregnant at 14 years old in 2007, which nobody knew. I gave birth the same week that my mom finally found out. I did not have anything for my baby, but when my mom told everyone, my family, friends and community came together to ensure that the baby and I had everything we needed, which lasted for a few years. From that moment, I promised myself I would one day pay it all forward by helping Girls, Teens, Teen Moms and Moms Like myself.

 

Because I was a teen mom and had responsibilities, I did not get the opportunity to attend my high school prom. I always wanted to go to Prom, so I decided that with the organization, I would throw one for myself and 25 other teen moms aged 17 to 100 years old who never got the opportunity as well as myself. I felt, despite any circumstances, that we all deserve that special night and lifelong memory.

This would mean so much to us if you could help us by donating, whether monetary, or a service such as make-up, nails, hair, transportation, decorating the venue, or photography services. The prom is set to take place Saturday July 30th from 7 PM to 11 PM at Burton Manor banquet hall. We appreciate your time and support. Thank you
