❤ Lori needs a new heart ❤️

Hi everyone, Jessica here. I never thought I would ever have the need to do one of these, but here we are.

Over the past couple months, we have been processing some major news. My mom, Lori Markwood, needs to have a heart transplant. Her heart has been failing for some time, but it is to the point where she will need this to survive.

There is nowhere in her home state of Alaska to get a heart transplant. The current plan is for Lori to have this surgery at the Ohio State University Medical Center. She will need to make several trips back and forth to Ohio prior too and following the surgery.

As far as we are aware, insurance should cover most of the cost of the surgery, but not all the costs associated with a procedure like this. We just don't know right now what will be covered and what won't be. The biggest expense she will immediately be facing is transportation and housing. As mentioned above, she will need to make several airline trips back and forth, the cost of ground transport to and from the hospital, and any housing costs while visiting for appointments. Her first trip for appointments starts in the few weeks.

Lori is on a fixed income and the costs far outweigh what she takes in each month. I am humbling asking for assistance on her behalf to help alleviate some of this burden.
