Helping Ukrainian Refugees
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Vera and I was born and raised in the wonderful city of Chernivtsi, Ukraine. My family moved to the United States in 1998 as refugees, and because of my parents' sacrifice I was able to finish school here peacefully and become a nurse. As a nurse, it is especially difficult for me at this time to see my people wounded, hurting, and not being able to be there physically, helping them.
Though I am now a citizen here, I very much consider Ukraine my home and still have contact with family members and friends there. One of my childhood friends Maria is there now, in Chernivtsi, with her family. Since Chernivtsi is in a safer part of the country and near the Romanian border, many refugees are coming there for aid. These people are leaving behind their homes and all their belongings to seek safety and possibly flee the country. Maria and her husband are part of a church called Philadelphia Church that is helping these refugees who are coming from all over Ukraine. They have already aided hundreds of people by providing food, toiletries, a place to sleep, and helping women and children flee the country. Men are not allowed to leave the country so many families do not want to leave and be separated, but they have nowhere to go. Maria’s husband is the Pastor’s assistant at Philadelphia Church, and they are all faithfully and lovingly serving all these people that are flooding in, as best as they can. They are also currently putting together a team that is gathering food and will be delivering it to the people in cities and villages that are being attacked. This is where your donation is going – to feed men, women, and children who have not eaten in days and have no way of getting basic needs.
All the money that is raised will directly go to this church which I know will use it to help those who have lost everything and have nowhere to turn. I appreciate you taking the time to read my message. Please continue to pray for Ukraine, the people that are suffering, fighting, and those who have stayed to help in every way they can. If you donated as well, thank you, and know that your contribution is making a difference.
