Help The NY Heroes
Donation protected
We are senior nursing students in NY preparing to graduate this May, and with school and clinical rotations on hold, we are starting a project to help others in our communities and I am writing to you today to ask for your help.
The recent devastating effects of COVID 19 have shaken most of our worlds, and our day to day routines have been not only altered but for some of us have come to a complete halt. Especially in New York. The nurses, health care professionals, police officers, firefighters and EMTs and people of New York have experienced some of the most horrific things that this country has ever seen. We have overcome the worst of events, and this illness has affected the entire world, but New York has now become the hub of COVID 19. There are more confirmed cases in the State of New York than anywhere else in the country, by tenfold.
There are not only physical restrictions of the current shelter-in-place and lockdown recommendations but emotional and financial hardships that most of us are facing. There are some, however, that are not able to hide at home scared and worried. The bravest people of our New York communities are not trying to avoid this terrifying pandemic, they are doing what most of us could not do, and fighting this invisible enemy. They are on the front lines. They are the barrier between us and the thing that scares us most right now. Some of us, at home, wish that we were able to do more to help. Though we may not all have training and expertise in dealing with infectious diseases or protecting the community, we all have something to offer during times like this.
I am looking for any donations to help raise money for products that we can donate to the extraordinary individuals who are on the front lines for us, the nurses, the doctors, the healthcare workers, and the brave men and women of the NYPD and FDNY. These people are putting their lives on the line to care and contain this deadly virus and are only not equipped with the proper protective equipment they need, but also do not have the time to go out and buy themselves groceries, or some of the small daily necessities they need. I wanted to be able to make care packages of any items/products you'd be willing to donate to the cause to send to local hospitals, precincts, firehouses and to our EMTs/paramedics. If you wish to donate to my cause, it would bring me great joy to be able to distribute these care packages and send you photos and display them on social media or send them out personally to show how your contributions have made a difference! You can also choose to send us an email with a photo of yourself or a thank you note to incorporate into the care package.
All I hope is to provide a pathway for companies/businesses and individuals to help the people who are protecting us, to support them, and make their lives easier.
If you are unable to make a financial donation at this time, please consider sharing this link or donating any supplies or things to be added to the care packages. Anything helps!
