Teddy needs surgery

Donation protected
Hi everyone. This is Brett, Denise, Grayson and Ryan. We are trying to raise enough to help pay for our dog, Teddy’s , bi-lateral hip replacement surgery. Teddy is part of our family and is just 18 months old. He is too young to be going through all of this pain and discomfort.

Backstory. After doing extensive research to help insure that we got a healthy puppy we decided to rely on AKC’s website for a recommended and registered breeder for Golden retriever puppies. We contacted a wonderful breeder and based on conversation and vistics we decided to put down a deposit March 2022.

July of 2022, we picked up Teddy from the breeder, brought him home, and were determined to do everything right for his health. We took him to the vet every month, kept him away from other dogs, got all of his regular vaccines and trained him. Teddy has grown up very fast, at least physically. (He is still very much a puppy at heart) around June of this year, we started to notice that when he walked there was a noticeable pop in his rear end. It was hard for us to tell if this was serious (especially since we had been so diligent about taking him to the vet) Nonetheless, we started him on some Hip & Joint supplements and we continued to monitor him. And we scheduled a vet appointment. The vet performed a full hip physical exam and declared his hips as ok but she did feel the pop. She said once he got older the pop would likely go away. It didn't...

Fast forward to Sept 2023, we noticed Teddy's right hip was swollen and he started limping. When he started not putting any pressure on his back right leg, we immediately took him to our vet and they did xrays. Based on the xray results we discovered that he had bi-lateral hip dysplasia in both hips and early arthritis. The hip joint sockets are almost non-existent Over the next few weeks, we met with surgeons and discussed the different options Teddy had. And given his young age both vets ( I got a 2nd opinion) believed the total hip replacement would be the most effective and have the most success long-term. We would like to scheduled the surgery for Jan/Feb of 2024.

Unfortunately, it happened at such a young age, that we had not yet obtained pet insurance, so we are having to pay for this surgery (and all of the other MANY vet expenses) out of pocket. The surgery cost will be between $12,000-14,000 to have both hips replacement.

Any donation or any amount would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Love
Brett, Denise, Grayson, Ryan & TEDDY.
