NYC Homeless Cold Weather Care Pack Charity Giveaway.

Funds will be used to put together cold weather care packs and some essentials for the Homeless in NYC. Currently we are at 120 Cold Weather Care Packs from the GoFundMe Funding.

The first round of Care Packs were self-funded by myself to help the less fortunate. Hoping to spark the interest of those around me to giveback and help those in need.

My hopes with this GoFundMe campaign is to help as many homeless people in NYC to give them some of the much needed essentials to survive the bitter cold NYC winter.

Some Facts About NYC Homelessness:

― In recent years, homelessness in New York City has reached the highest levels since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

― In October 2016, there were 62,306 homeless people, including 15,769 homeless families with 24,121 homeless children, sleeping each night in the New York City municipal shelter system. Families comprise just over three-quarters of the homeless shelter population.

― Over the course of City fiscal year 2016, more than 127,652 different homeless men, women, and children slept in the New York City municipal shelter system. This includes over 45,000 different homeless New York City children.

― Studies show that the large majority of street homeless New Yorkers are people living with mental illness or other severe health problems.

― The number of homeless New Yorkers sleeping each night in municipal shelters is now 83 percent higher than it was ten years ago.

― Research shows that the primary cause of homelessness, particularly among families, is lack of affordable housing. Surveys of homeless families have identified the following major immediate, triggering causes of homelessness: eviction; doubled-up or severely overcrowded housing; domestic violence; job loss; and hazardous housing conditions.

― Each night thousands of unsheltered homeless people sleep on New York City streets, in the subway system, and in other public spaces.

Some Powerful Quotes:

“The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”
― Rob Siltanen

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
― Winston Churchill

“No one has ever become poor by giving.”
― Anne Frank

“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done. We will be judged by ‘I was hungry and you gave me to eat, I was naked and you clothed me, I was homeless and you took me in.’ Hungry not only for bread — but hungry for love. Naked not only for clothing — but naked for human dignity and respect. Homeless not only for want of a room of bricks — but homeless because of rejection.”
― Mother Teresa

“To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

“That best portion of a good man’s life; his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.” –
― William Wordsworth

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”
― Steve Maraboli

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.”
― Buddha
