NYC Marathon--Keep Kids On Track

Tax deductible
I've decided to raise $2500 so that I can run the NYC marathon for Team Armory Foundation. The Armory Foundation, is a non-profit community center in Harlem NYC that helps kids stay healthy and motivated by providing a diversity of athletic and nutrition programs. These include team sports, gymnastics, fitness, dance, and cooking classes to name a few. There is an obesity epidemic in the United States, including my neighborhood Harlem, and giving these children, who are anywhere from preschool to high school, a cost-free, fun environment to learn to take care of their health and wellness is invaluable to them, their families and the broader community. We need to fight chronic disease by supporting our youth. I am currently a nursing student in Harlem, and it's my passion to keep people healthy and fight societies debilitating illnesses. I believe it's especially important to keep children healthy as they grow up so that they can stay on track living up to their fullest potential. Sedentary lifestyle and poor nutrition, which leads to obesity, is the main cause for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, such as type II diabetes. I want to do my part in preventing the devastating effects of these conditions on people's lives and our community. When it comes to myself, I want to have the opportunity to run an iconic marathon and experience this amazing event and fundraising effort in my new home NYC!
