The meaniful tales of Maui.
A film BY the people, FOR the people.
Hi team, Kia Ora, my name is Wiremu.
I am a New Zealand born and raised Maori creative, with a passion for meaningful history and stories.
Māui is well renowned inspirational figure, with powerful journeys to understand his land, sea and sun. Māui is strong, creative, innovative, and defiant. Yet filled with courage and determination. He battles with his family and brothers to keep a sense of peace in his village. So at a time of global verging tensions, a film both mildly dark with strong warm messages targeted at all nations and ages, will provide valuable cultural messages, when brought to life.
We are looking for funding to bring on the right talent to create the initial short film animation and production. Including Māori voices and character styling. Investors will enjoy an opportunity to assist the style of a character, and where special personalities arise, voice a specific part in the full length film.
There will be a strong collaboration required with Maori voices, whakairo (carving) and Maori artists, native singer and songs writers, directors and kapahaka groups for authentic and grounded cinematic visuals and sound. To ensure we capture a very raw natural core tone, for the film.
We want the visuals to be one of a kind, where the audience resonates with the story and carry the message further than passing review comments. Maui, before the myth, his spirit was legend.
