Samuel A. Kirk school is a public school which consists of approximately 170 students from pre-kindergarten up to age 22 with significant cognitive disabilities, multiple disabilities, autism, hearing and visual impairments, physical/health impairments, communication disorders, sensory and/or behavioral impairments. Kirk School is operated by the NSSEO (Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization), learn more about Kirk at nsseo.org. Kirk students come from several school districts in Chicago's north west suburbs to receive a comprehensive educational program which includes:
-multisensory instruction in a high structured environment
-access to general education curriculum through individualizations and adaptation of core academic programs
-life skills instruction in a variety of environments that focuses on daily living, social skills, vocational, and leisure/recreation skill development to prepare students for adulthood
-transition services for students as they move to community living and work alternative
On Sunday, May 22nd, 2016, Kirk school will be hosting a Community Walk and Wheel-a-thon to raise funds for adapted athletic equipment and field improvement. The goal of this project is to better adapt the field behind Kirk’s parking lot for our students and the community. Phases 1 and 2, planning and fencing were just completed. We are fundraising $50,000 for Phase 3, adding a track, and phase 4, installing exercise equipment for high school and transition students. This will be a major project for Kirk School and will be an important addition for our students. Please aid us in our continued quest to help all Kirk students reach their fullest potential.
The event is sponsored by our parent/staff organization, PATHS, a 501c3 charitable organization eligible for tax deductible donations.
Please take the time to consider donating to this amazing cause. Our students are the heart and soul of Kirk school, and deserve every opportunity to succeed and grow as individuals.
Thank you!
