Achimota School Lab Renovation
Donation protected
The Achimota School Alumni Class of 1992 is committed to raising funds to renovate the school's Physics lab in an effort to provide modern laboratory equipment to help meet educational standards of the 21st century. As a class, we have already pledged $20,000 towards this project.
Please help us raise an additional $30,000 to meet our $50,000 goal.
Founded in 1924, Achimota School is a public high school in Ghana, West Africa. It was built as a co-educational institute to educate individuals from across the country, regardless of ethnicity, social background, gender or race. Our school motto: Ut Omnes Unum Sint (That all may be one), encapsulates that vision.
Unfortunately, over the years, due to inadequate public funding, many maintenance and improvement projects including the science laboratories (especially the physics lab) have been under prioritized. As a result, the physics lab is in dire need of an upgrade to meet educational standards in the 21st century.
Most of the equipment used for projects are derelict and while they should be discarded, students continue to use them as there are no other options. The roof to the building leaks with most of the project benches in much need of a makeover.
Students dreaming of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) professions are unable to learn in a modern environment making them less competitive for admissions into tertiary programs and therefore ultimately impacts their ability to achieve their career aspirations. A number of students interviewed described in despair the challenges they have as almost futile.
Each year, the alumni class celebrating its 25th anniversary, undertakes and commissions a special project which is presented to the school during the annual Founder’s day event in March.
To commemorate its anniversary, The Achimota School Class of 1992 plans to refurbish the Physics laboratory in Achimota School in order to provide opportunities for the next generation of science students.
Support us towards our goal of providing better opportunities for the next generation as they aspire to professions founded in science.
Thank you for your support.
