Oak View Memorial Day Parade

Hi Everyone! I’m Mendy Mcquillen the coordinator the oak view Memorial Day parade. I took on the job to keep this amazing tradition alive for our community last year and I not only had the pleasure of planning it but I got to meet so many people in our community because of it! I can’t describe the feeling when I got to see all your little ones light up and the smiles they had! All I wanted when taking this parade over was to bring the community together so we can smile and make memories with our families, friends and community and It honestly was more I could have ever hoped for or dreamed of so thank you for making it the BEST DAY EVER!

I absolutely love this community and I love planning this parade but unfortunately I am unable to financially pay for this on my own. I paid for it last year and was told I would recoup all the money at the end with the entry fee’s but that didn’t happen and this year I am not in a position to front the money or pay for it by myself going forward. When I agreed to take on this job I was told I would t have to pay for anything and they had someone who donated the money for it but this is/was not the case. I’m going to have a sale in 2 weeks as well to hopefully help but sadly if we can not raise the money to cover the insurance and permits by the last day of the month I will have to stop planning and this years parade will be canceled. This breaks my heart to even think of that happening and so this is why I hoping it reaches enough people to help me so I dont let all the little babies in our town down. Let’s come together and show them what it looks like to celebrate and show our appreciation to those hero’s we lost and what community really looks like when someone needs help because I can’t do this alone. I CANT DO THIS WITHOUT YOUR HELP! Thank you so much for your time and I hope to see you on Memorial Day
