Oakhurst Elementary Mural Project

Our Heart for the Carter-Riverside Community:
We live in the Carter-Riverside neighborhood of Fort Worth, TX and we love this community. There is a big heart amongst the artists in the community to bring revitalization through beauty and the arts.
Oakhurst Elementary is the school my daughter attends which is comprised mostly of lower-income families. We will be focusing on a mural project that will be done on the side of the school's gym, which is visible to the community too. The school really wants and is in great need of community involvement. As artists in the community, our focus will be on bringing beauty to the campus (which often gets vandalized) through art. The school has wanted a mural done for a while now, but the previous attempts have fallen through.
Goals for the Project:
We plan to complete this mural in time for the new school year of 2020-2021. It will be a "welcome back to school" gift for the school as well as the community. We made sure to keep our minds in the perspective of what the kids would want to see. We will use lots of colors, fun characters, and interactive parts that can help spark imagination and be used for pictures. The mural will also be facing a new playground that the school has raised money for.
The sooner we can get funded, the sooner we can get started! Right now our start date depends on when the money and supplies come in. The $1800 is for paint, materials, and equipment rental. All artists involved are volunteering their time. We are hoping to get started this month. We are so excited to be able to bless the school in this way, and will greatly appreciate any support we can get! Community involvement means a lot to Oakhurst Elementary, so we want to also honor that need.
