OAKLAND BLUES WALK OF FAME
Donation protected
After 20 years of struggling, The Music They Played on 7th Street Oakland Walk of Fame is now ready for installation. The beginning phase includes 88 placques that will be installed on the sidewalk at the 7th Street BART Station between Center and Henry Streets in West Oakland, CA. This one of a kind Blues Walk of Fame, perpetuates the music legacy of the most popular street for blues, jazz and gospel entertainment on the west coast and those that were a part of that history. The 7th Street clubs are now gone due to urban renewal. The West Coast Blues Society continues to keep the HISTORY ALIVE while teaching the AT RISK YOUTH that they can have pride in their COMMUNITY HISTORY OF WEST OAKLAND,CA. Plans are in the works for the first phase Grand Opening Ceremony. This request is to raise funds for the following start up expenses for The Music They Played on 7th Street Oakland Walk of Fame:
a. Grants Writer
b. Publicist
c. Resource Program Guide Publication which includes a CD of The Music They Played on 7th Street
d. CD Manufacturing and licensing fees
The Resource Program Guide includes biographies of first 88 recipients that will have the honor of placement in the first phase installation.
PLEASE HELP US KEEP BLUES ALIVE--AMERICA'S ONLY TRUE ART FORM. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
