Save Oakland High School Sports
Donation protected
The Oakland Unified School District is cutting 10 out of 20 after-school sports at Oakland high schools to combat what it says are massive budget problems, saving them $500k in funding. Some of the sports cut include wrestling, swimming, bowling, tennis, golf, girls lacrosse, badminton and boys volleyball.
Sports help teens to become better contributors to society. Research shows a child’s involvement in sport helps them to improve their social interaction, increase their confidence, and improve their listening skills and health. Participation in sport is linked to higher grades, lower dropout rate, reduced truancy and lower crime rates.
We are raising this money to save the sports that have been cut. We feel that it's very important for kids to have positive outlets and Oakland should be trying to add more options, not get rid of them. Our goal is $500,000 to replace the entire amount that has been cut, but any amount will help. All money raised will go to bringing back these sports.
If you donate at least $100, leave your Instagram name in the comments & we will shout you out on our @TheThizzler IG page.

While we have no direct affiliation to Oakland Unified School District, we're concerned citizens and residents of Oakland who hate to see resources being taken away from the city's students. Thizzler On The Roof is a media company for local music that is based in Oakland.
We want to use the reach of our platform to draw attention to the issue, and rally our followers to get involved.
Our goal is $500,000 because that was the sum of the budgetary deficit that triggered the cuts. We will donate every cent raised to OUSD to cover their sports programs via the link on their website.
