Oaklyn Jacob Medical Fundraiser

Hi everyone, my name is Amber Goodwin, and Brigh Wiig is my best friend and soul sister. Brigh and I met while working as Early Childhood Education teachers many years ago. In addition to knowing Brigh, I have been friends with Jared, her significant other and father of her children, for over 16 years as well.

On Christmas Eve, Brigh gave birth to a 9 lb 12 oz beautiful baby boy, Oaklyn Jacob Valtin Bean. Shortly after being born, Oaklyn was rushed by ambulance to the NICU at Boston Children's Hospital for low oxygen levels and blood pressure issues. During his stay in the NICU, he has been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension and an urology issue that will require surgery once he gets a bit older. As I write this, Brigh and Jared are hoping they get to go home soon to be with their three year old daughter too. In order for them to come home, Oaklyn will need to be able to keep his oxygen and blood pressure levels stable. This includes having a device to monitor his oxygen levels while he sleeps. We are all hoping and praying that everything will keep staying positive and they can be home as soon as possible!

The Christmas season is supposed to be filled with happy, positive memories. Unfortunately, Brigh, Jared and Oaklyn have spent their last week at Boston Children's Hospital, while also tirelessly caring for their incredible three-year-old daughter at home over an hour away. I created this fundraiser to help with the medical expenses that already occurred, the medical expenses that will occur with upcoming appointments and potential surgeries, the need for a specialized monitoring device and whatever additional funds will help them offset the costs of not working during this time. Those who know Brigh know that she is one who never asks for anything, and is always there to help anyone in need. Brigh is an incredible mother, best friend, teacher, and friend. Jared is a great father and friend, and this family can use all the help they can get! They would never ask for help on their own. Many people have reached out wondering how they can help, and that is what created this fundraiser!
