Oakmont Commons Flood Relief
Our small neighborhood was hit badly by the storm that passed through Oakmont. In the early morning of July 22, while we all were fast asleep, firefighters knocked wildly on doors telling homeowners to evacuate. When their feet hit the floors to see what the commotion was, they felt the cold wet ground and the reality sunk in- their homes were flooded. One man said that he only felt a little water underfoot, but when he looked out the window there was water as high as his window sill. The entire contents of first floors were lost in 11 homes on Commons Drive in Oakmont and at least 20 homes total were affected, numerous cars were totaled with damage and now they are faced with the cleanup and rebuilding.
We are fundraising to help alleviate some of the extraneous costs that our neighbors will have to now absorb. Any donation would be appreciated and will be distributed between the homeowners who were directly affected on Commons Drive.
