Oakwood Junior High Math Team

Because this is the first year for an organized OJH Math Team, we will not receive formal funding from the school. (We did receive up to $300 from the student council for Math Olympiad and AMC 8.) I'd like to give the students the opportunity to participate in MathCounts, Math Olympiad, and the AMC 8. The cost for these competitions is $360 for MathCounts, $170 for Math Olympiad, and $98 for AMC 8. GoFundMe has a processing fee for each donation (2.9% + $0.30 for each donation), so our initial fundraising goal is a little higher than the $360 for MathCounts.

If we exceed our goal, there are other competitions we can participate in (University of Cincinnati Math Bowl and the National Math and Science Competition at Wright State, for example). Other possible uses for excess funds are: forward funding next year to take advantage of discounts for early registration or providing pizza during some of the Wednesday competitions.
