Oates Needs Surgery

Hi, my name is Oates. My mom got me from Rescued Ohio 2 years ago when I was only 4 months old. I just turned 2 in December! I was part of the Singer Litter. Can you guess which band I’m named after?
My mom’s name is Holly, so we form the duo Holly and Oates. She thinks that is a pretty funny story and tells it to everyone. She’s silly.
For the first year of my life, I lived on a farm and got to be besties with some pretty cool farm animals. The goats were my favorite though because we liked to chase each other around the field, and they like to climb things like me... that’s how I got my nickname, Oates McGoats. Although I did enjoy running after the little piglets too, but boy are they fast.

For the last year we’ve lived in a little house in the city with my new little sister Freyja, she’s a rescue like me. She’s pretty cool, but she sure talks a lot. She tells on me when I steal her toys, then mom makes me give them back to her (tattle tale). She likes to yell at me for not playing with her all of the time…and I want to, I really do…but honestly, I just can’t run like I used to, and I get tired quick.
Mom says it’s because I’ve torn both of the ACL tendons in the back of my legs. I don’t know what that means really, but it is hard to get up and I don’t like to put any weight on my back legs at all, because it hurts. All I know is that Freyja gets to run around the back yard all day and I just sit and watch because I can’t really run like that anymore. It makes me very sad.
Mom says I have to have surgery to repair both my legs. It’s a big long name, but everyone calls it TPLO for short (Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy) and it’s this Friday the 16th, and to be honest, I’m a bit nervous, but mom says that I get these super bionic legs and I’ll be good as new once I get the surgery! Woohoo.

I think she is a little nervous too. She says it’s super expensive to have this procedure done and because I have to have both legs done it’s double trouble. I heard her tell grandmaw that it was $8,500 which sounds like a lot of bones to me.
I know she doesn’t like to ask for help, she’s super independent, but I thought I would ask and see if anyone would be willing to reach out a paw to help my mom out with my medical bills. It’s been a ruff year for everyone and it’s a lot I know, but any help would be greatly appreciated, and you would be helping this little pup go back to being the puppy I’m supposed to be!
Love and Puppy Kisses to all,
Oates McGoats

Oates is such a good and lovable puppy and it breaks my heart to watch him limp around and not be able to play and be the active, fun, little guy that he wants to be, even though he does try. He’s only 2 so getting the surgery means he gets to go back to being a puppy and have a good long pain free life ahead of him.
Unfortunately, the surgery, called Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy (TPLO), and what was recommended by the Vet, is super expensive. And because he is having them both done the cost is double.
Any donations to this cause would be so appreciated and would mean the world to me and Oates. Thank you for any help and support you can provide me and my fur baby!
