We achieve our mission by providing outcome-based programs in the spirit of our CREED (Compassion, Respect, Empathy, Empowerment, Dignity).

My name is Leopoldine Matialeu. I am one of the combined Family/Psychiatry residents and SVDP is our continuity clinic during the five years of our training. The goal is to obtain an ultrasound to provide better obstetrics care at our clinic. We have noted an increase in the number of obstetric patients we see at our clinic over the past few years. Given the population our clinic serves, the women we see deal with a lot of psycho-social challenges in addition to their pregnancy. obtaining an ultrasound will help consolidate the prenatal care within our clinic until delivery if possible. The project will help with better use of resources as we will be able to determine who needs to be referred out acutely instead of referring everyone out to another clinical setting because no means to screen them out at this point. This will also decrease the stress on the pregnant women as it will decrease stress surrounding transportation and additional support needed if they have other children. So far, we are also working with a UCSD medical student group to attempt to raise some funds as well.
