Ocean Suite in the honour of Kingsley Rye

I have been asked by my cousin Grace Cairns to help her raise money for the Ocean Suit.

On the 14th January 2024 Grace and Carl sadly lost their beloved baby boy Kingsley Carter Terry Rye twin to Thor Kingsley Rye.

Kingsley may have only been with us for a short time but he has left a hole in many heart. His parents, Brother and sister all left heart broken.

Grace and Carl wanted to raise money in name of their darling boy for the Ocean suite who were a massive part of helping them in the days and weeks following their loss.

After losing Kingsley Grace and Carl were given a bereavement midwife (Emma) who was absolutely amazing throughout everything. On the day they lost Kingsley, he was blessed by the chaplain and then he was taken away by the drs. From then was a painful and traumatic 12 days without him, Emma provided support the entire time they without their baby boy. Understandably they were in absolute despair so Emma chased up updates on behalf of them, helped them with getting the support they needed and had endless amounts of empathy.

When Kingsley finally arrived back to Margate hospital she contacted Grace and Carl right away for them to go to ocean suite and spend some time with him.

They were allowed to spend as much time as they needed and their families were welcome too. They took Thor with them because obviously he is a part of Kingsley and Kingsley is a part of him. Emma organised castings of Kingsley's hands and feet, photographs to be taken of their beautiful boy and really helped them with the grieving process.

No mummy or daddy should ever lose their baby and it is a very heartbreaking situation that they never thought they would have to go through but ocean suite really did do their best to help them and without them they would not have got to spend that last day with their boy. That day and the time they got was so precious. They provided a cold cot and a cold cuddle blanket for him, and honestly they made sure he looked so beautiful. Emma helped Grace change him into a knitted outfit that was provided by ocean suite. They gave them a memory box for him, even with a lock of his hair…

Ocean Suite is a home from home environment for grieving parents who have suffered the loss of a baby. In a sense it is a self contained apartment. Bereavement suits in maternity are not statutory funded by the NHS being the reason they rely on donations to provide specialised equipment and comforts for bereaved parents.

Grace and Carl would like to be able to give back to them in what has been a tragic time of their lives as a way of thank you for all they done for them.
