Octavio "Ratinho" Couto

As many of you know, the world has lost a legend. Octavio Couto, "Ratinho," was in Italy to celebrate a wedding when a tragic accident occurred. It is with great sadness that his family and friends around the globe struggle to wrap their heads around such a profound loss. He was a father, husband and friend. A mentor and a professor, a true trailblazer in the art of Jiu Jitsu. This was most unexpected, under unique circumstances, and at a time when Octavio was preparing to transfer his family from Italy to Brazil. Due to the bureaucracies involved there are no funds immediately available for Octavio’s services, or for his widow Rebecca to follow through with Octavio’s plans for Olympia’s future. Please help them lay Octavio to rest with the dignity he deserves while they navigate this trans-Atlantic relocation. Any remaining money will be used to help the family survive the first few months without Octavio and secure housing in Brazil, as well as Olympia's enrollment in a competitive IB program.
