Odelia Victoria Medical Emergency
Donation protected
Odelia Victoria Crouse was born on March 14, 2024, at 6 lbs. 5 oz. and 18 inches long via emergency c-section. Due to trauma experienced during childbirth, Odelia was immediately rushed to the neonatal intensive care unit of Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago Medical Center. She currently has a condition called hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), a result of oxygen loss to the brain. Her treatment includes a controlled hypothermia for 72 hours and various medications. We are very grateful for the progress she has made so far, and we invite you to pray along with us for her full recovery with as few long-term effects as possible.
This is an incredibly difficult journey for Odelia and her family. We are unsure of how long she will be hospitalized nor what kind of care she may need after hospitalization. Thankfully, most of her extremely high medical costs will be covered, and Ronald McDonald House has supplied housing for her parents. Unexpected financial impacts include loss of parental work income, travel expenses, living expenses, and various costs enabling her parents to be with her as often as they can while she recovers.
Your help is deeply appreciated. She is receiving the most excellent care available, and she is surrounded by an unimaginable amount of love and affection. Your gift will directly ease the burden on her parents as they direct every moment of attention and ounce of energy to support her care.
Thank you,
