Odonel A

Hello, Odonel is my friend. He came to our church 8 years ago. At that time, he was told by his doctors that his health was so bad - heart disease and diabetes -- that he only had a few months to live. He asked for prayers and began taking better of himself. His health improved and soon he was trying to help others in their lives. He soon married and even though he had some health battles, a pacemaker allowed him to flourish. He was happy, with three daughters, one son and three grandchildren. He was helping his family in so many ways.

Every time I met him, I would ask, "How are you doing, Mr. Odonel?" and his response, with a quick smile, "Well, you know. God is good." and every time we said goodbye, he would say, "Please keep praying for me and my family." He was always quick to smile, was appreciative of all that he was provided, and was joyful in the new life that the Lord gave him.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck this past Saturday (July 22, 2023) when Mr. Odonel drowned at a beach in Upstate New York. His wife has only been in the United States for a few short years and therefore her English is limited, making it difficult for her to find steady work. We are looking for assistance to support the funeral as well as allow some time for his wife to get back on her feet.

Any amount that you can offer will be greatly appreciated. All funds will go directly to Mr. Odonel's wife to pay for the funeral and all that is left over will assist her as she works to stabilize her life

Obituary

Once upon a time, in the vibrant city of Syracuse, there lived a remarkable man named Odonel. A proud Haitian by birth, he had spent forty fulfilling years on this Earth, cherishing his roots and embracing his culture. Odonel was a devoted family man and husband, blessed with four wonderful children and three adoring grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

In the year 2004, destiny led Odonel to America, where he found a new home in Syracuse. He wholeheartedly embraced the city and its people, and in turn, the community welcomed him with open arms. Odonel’s kindness, compassion, and strong sense of community spirit made him a beloved figure among his neighbors.

Throughout his life in Syracuse, Odonel actively participated in various community events and initiatives, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. His commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

As the years passed, Odonel’s love for his Haitian heritage remained unwavering, and he instilled the same sense of pride in his children, who carried on his legacy of kindness and community involvement.

In Syracuse, Odonel found not just a new home but a place where he flourished, surrounded by love, and cherished by those who knew him. His story serves as a testament to the power of unity and the strength that comes from embracing one’s roots while building connections with others from different walks of life. He became a member of the Korean Church of Syracuse where he introduced several family and friends. Both Odonel and his wife Lormise were baptized in this church.

And so, Odonel Archange’s journey stands as a heartwarming reminder that love, community, and compassion know no boundaries.
