Off road handcycle
For all who know me, I am a hard worker and do not ask for much. I have been a paraplegic for the last 7 years and am seeking help in purchasing a handcycle to enjoy the great outdoors. I have purchased two used handcycles in the last 6 years, both have broken. I love to be out in the woods, and a wheelchair just can not handle that kind of terrain. I have two wonderful husky mixes who love to pull me through town and love the woods just as much as I do. With a handcycle I can enjoy a ride through the woods with them.
In 2019, I was privileged enough to have a chance to test out different handcycles in Reading, PA. The Vermont Adaptive & Berks Area Mountain Biking Association held an event allowing paraplegics to test out different styles of bikes. I fell in love with handcycling through the woods, something I have missed since the accident. I found that the Reactive Adaptions Hammerhead with full suspension off road handcycle was the best fit for my lifestyle. I will need to add an electric assist system, bringing the handcycle’s total to $11,500.
It is very difficult for me to ask for help, but with bills and the cost of living, I know that I can not afford to buy a bike on my own, even with saving for years. ⬆️ This is from RAGBRAI 2013
