Off The Beaten Path Bookstore

UPDATE: We have officially reached our goal!! A huge thank you to every single person who donated to our cause! We're going to keep this fundraiser open until we reopen - every bit helps! Keep checking back for weekly updates and more fun stories. In the meantime, check out our website for books, and Seedhouse Coffee's website for your caffeine fix: https://www.steamboatbooks.com https://www.seedhouse.coffee
Off the Beaten Path and its staff of literature lovers have been supporting local residents and visitors of Steamboat Springs for the past 30 years. We’ve gone through a lot of ups and downs in that time - changing owners and locations, making hard decisions about our cafe, weathering a major financial crisis - and now, during this unprecedented time, we have done what’s best for our community by shutting our doors to the public until the danger has passed. But we need your help.
As anyone who has visited us knows, the joy of a good bookstore isn’t something that can be replicated online; and yet, that is precisely the position we find ourselves in due to COVID-19 and the mandatory shutdowns that have ensued. Though the gratitude we feel towards our loyal customers who have continued to order books through our website cannot be understated, our main source of revenue has been dramatically reduced. We are diligently pursuing the loans and grants made available by the federal government and private organizations, many of which are being overwhelmed by the nationwide need for assistance.
The weeks and months ahead will prove to be the greatest test Off The Beaten Path has yet weathered in its 30 year history. The same love and support from our community that has guided our decision making in the past will be instrumental in ensuring we’re here for you in the future.
We have created this GoFundMe for one purpose: to ensure that Off The Beaten Path will be able to reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. Any and all donations we receive will go directly to covering the necessary operational costs of the business. This includes rent, utilities, publisher expenses, website fees, and especially the establishment of an emergency relief fund for our employees to help with basic needs such as rent, food, and medical bills. Your donation ensures that when we do reopen, it will be with the same booksellers and baristas you’ve come to know and love.
If you’ve ever walked into our store and felt immediately at home, then you know why this is important. If you’ve ever asked a bookseller for a good recommendation, had a conversation over a latte with a good friend, ever attended an author talk, poetry slam, trivia night, or storytime, then you know why this place matters. If the bookstore has impacted your life for the better, in a big way or small, please consider supporting us now so we can continue supporting you in the future. Thank you.
