My dear friend, Jamaica Hampton, is a well known and respected member at CityTeam (a nondenominational Christian nonprofit, compassionately serving their neighbors experiencing homelessness, poverty, hunger, and addiction). He was shot and critically wounded by San Francisco Police Officers on Saturday, December 8th at 8: 30am. Jamaica was employed as a waiter in Oakland, humbly saving his money for his next career move.
There are many different stories going around about what happened. The first article speaks of a burglary suspect who was targeted by the SFPD. Another article states that he was running away from the police as they shot him and immediately tried to resuscitate him, whereas another witness recalls them immediately strip searching him for weapons or the burglary items (which can be seen in the images of his arrest). Body-cam footage shows him running away before he gets gunned down by police. They also confiscated a drone that was flying above the crime scene at the time that probably shows the true, non-biased account.
No matter what actually occurred, no one seems to have a consistent story, and my friend is trying to hold on to his life. He is now in the Intensive Care Unit and has been there since the 8th of December. His wounds that the SFPD inflicted have potentially permanently damaged his legs and his ability to walk. SFPD won't allow any of his family members to visit him in the ICU at this time when he needs their love and support most.

Jamaica Hampton is striving in life to make a positive impact on the behalves of innocent youth who he wants to see flourish. We'd talk at Jack London Square about the pains and injustices of the world, in what ways we could bring light and peace to others in need, and I didn't get the chance to see him like we were planning when I came back from my personal travels. So please, donate what you can to help pay for his outstanding medical bills, physical therapy treatments, and additional lawyer and housing bills covered. I don't believe he is insured, so linked below are estimates to how much it could potentially cost for ICU stays with everything included. It will be extremely expensive, but I just want his road to recovery to be as low-stress as possible, so he doesn't have to think about money, and can focus on healing and gaining his strength back. I don't want to say "If" he recovers, but when he will need to immediately seek treatment so please give what you can as soon as you can.
