Lieutenant Collar shot in head.

My name is Ed and I'm a former law enforcement officer. On a Halloween overnight shift my former colleague and good friend was involved in that pursuit of a stolen car used in armed robbery. At the termination of the pursuit, suspects exited the vehicle and began firing upon police. My friend Roy received a bullet wound to the head. Thankfully he's going to make a full recovery and is already home from the hospital.

Now is where the trouble begins. The city in which he is employed is placing him on workman's compensation. Georgia workman's compensation pays roughly 65% of his salary. He is currently unable to work during his recovery. The only way he can receive a full paycheck is by using his own PTO. There are factions within the city that are attempting to change this policy however that's not help my friend at this time.

Less than 2 months before Christmas and he's only receiving a fraction of his paycheck and is unable to work additional part time jobs. He is a married family man and was just out doing his job. He's always done his job the right way, and for the right reasons. It is completely unacceptably that an officer has to suffer a financial burden for nearly being killed on the job. Until such time as cities were counties begin taking care of their officers properly, the only thing we can do is attempt to take things into our own hands. I'm asking for donations to help cover the medical expenses and daily household bills while he is recovering from his gunshot wound. Being a good cop and trying to make a difference should not financially ruin a man because he was wounded. Any little bit helps. Thank you.
