The NMSPA Association is asking for your support to help our brother Officer Darrell Blackhorse with medical expenses due a recent diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. No dollar amount is too small. All donations are appreciated. Funds will go to current and past medical bills incurred due to Officer Blackhorse’s treatment. Please share this fundraiser and continue to keep Officer Blackhorse in your prayers.
Officer Darrell Blackhorse is from the Navajo (Dine') Tribe, born in Colorado but raised in Southeastern Utah, on the northern edge of the Navajo reservation. He joined NMSP in 2007 with the 77th recruit class. He was stationed in D-6 Gallup, then transferred to D-10 Farmington, then to D-1 Santa Fe, and finally ended up in D-5 Cuba. He has served 13 years in the Uniform Division with NMSP. Officer Darrell Blackhorse is also a military veteran. He served with the US Army as Combat Arms Infantry, an Apache Helicopter Mechanic, and as Military Police (MP). He later transferred from US Army Reserve MP to NM National Guard MP. His military service combined was 16 years and 9 months.
Officer Darrell Blackhorse was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in November of 2020. The medical bills associated with his diagnosis and treatment will be substantial. NMSPA is asking for donations to assist him with his medical bills and finances while he navigates the course of his cancer battle. Help us help our NMSP brother.
I am proud to represent myself as a Native American Indian during my time as a Soldier, as a Singer, and as a NM State Police Officer. I look forward to many more years after I conquer the cancer that has paused my life at this time.
