Officer David Bell Injured on the Job

In the early morning of a February day, Officer David Bell - Peterborough Police Department responded to a Domestic Disturbance call. Almost immediately upon his arrival, Officer Bell was involved in a physical altercation. As a result of this altercation, he fell from a back deck, causing Officer Bell to sustain multiple injuries. His shoulder was the most impacted, requiring weeks of pre-surgery therapy and a major operation which he recently had on April 19th. Dave has been out of work since the incident and he and his family have been living off a limited salary and will continue until he makes a full recovery, another 6 months.

Dave is a veteran of the United States Army where he served his country with the 5th Special Forces group. There, he did several deployments and after almost 10 years received an honorable discharge and moved back to NH with his wife, Ashley, and kids. Then he joined the Peterborough Police Department and has been serving for over 10 years. Dave and Ashley are raising four young daughters and depend on Dave’s income to make ends meet. They are both very modest people and always are helping others but never ask for help themselves. The family relies on Dave’s income, overtime and detail pay to live on, and since the accident, they have been down to about 40% of his monthly income. With the increase in taxes, electricity, food and about everything, things have been incredibly financially stressful for the family. The most important thing they want to focus on is Dave’s healing, and with the financial stress this whole situation puts the family under, they ask for help. This money will go to travel expenses related to doctor and therapy appointments, utility, and mortgage bills that the family is falling behind in payments. This family has gone through about every avenue to make ends meet, but most state help options are many months-long waiting lists. We are hoping to raise money to help this very deserving family in an unexpected and challenging time.
