Here's some details....
Ret Officer J Allen is left without the use of his legs, he is in need of a van with wheelchair lift. He has a uphill battle to conquer. He is being discharged from DePaul Rehabilitation Center in Bridgeton this week. He'll need to be seen by many physicians and physical therapist for years to come. We need to ban together to get the vehicle he needs.
He was in the Army as a Military Policeman from 1979 to 1982 at Fort Hood Texas. When he left the Army then went to work as a Correction Officer at the St. Louis County Jail Chesterfield MO for 5 years, 1983 to 1988. From there he went in as a Reserve Sheriff's Officer with Jefferson County Sheriffs Office, 1987 to 1988 until finishing the Law Enforcement Academy and went full time with JCSO on December 1, 1988 to April 2017, when he retired with 28.7 years of service full time and 1.5 years as a Reserve Deputy for over 30 years of service. He served as a School Resource Officer for about 15 years, Detective for 8 years, and 7 years as a uniform patrol officer.
However you know him either as brother in Christ, Detective, Police Officer, Correctional Officer, fellow Veteran or if you were student at Windsor, Northwest, or Seckman you may know him as your SRO he now needs your help.
A little about his health history of how he became paralyzed.
Officer Allen's story in his own words;
A mass Staph Infection was discovered in my upper spine discs and vertebrae, requiring emergency surgery to remove. This made it very difficult to walk. The infection was cleared up, but returned in the form a blood clot on my spine, restricting the flow of blood and spinal fluid to my legs and feet, partially paralyzing my right leg and foot. I currently do not have use of either leg with my right one suffering the most consistent damage. I retired in 2017 from JCSO and got sick in 2018 with my 1st Staph infection in my left lung that required emergency surgery to repair. In 2019 another infection destroyed my aorta requiring surgery and aortic valve replacement. Another Staph infection in my aorta again required surgery to replace my aorta in August 2022, which led to the two infections that have paralyzed me.
