Officer Rousselle Support

Chris Rousselle has been a police officer with an agency in Jacksonville, Florida for 3 years. On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, he responded to a call of an armed robbery to a business. The suspect fled in a carjacked vehicle and a pursuit ensued. As Chris was preparing to perform a pursuit intervention technique to bring the pursuit to a stop, and prevent injury to the public and to his fellow police officers, the suspect slammed on brakes intentionally causing Chris’s vehicle to crash into the back of the car jacked vehicle at a high rate of speed. As a result, Chris has been in the hospital with significant injuries to his neck. He has already had a major surgery and may require additional surgical interventions. Chris is expected to make a full recovery from the injuries he sustained, however, significant rehabilitation and a very long recovery is expected.
The suspect has since been charged with multiple violent felonies, including attempted murder, and may face additional charges as the investigation continues.
As a result of Chris’s attempt to apprehend this violent suspect, he will incur considerable expenses in his recovery, many of which will not likely be covered. Plus, the family will face a significant loss of income due to not being able to work additional duties, as most officers do to supplement their income.
Friends, colleagues and the community have rallied around Chris during this difficult time. The family is extremely grateful for all of the prayers and love received and wishes to express their sincerest thanks. Many have asked how they can further support the family, so this fund was created to ensure this incident does not place a financial burden on the family. Thank you for supporting this dedicated public servant, his three young children, and his wife, who will need to help care for him in the days, weeks and months to come.
This account will initially be managed by a colleague and friend, with the permission of Chris and his wife Kara who will be the beneficiary. 100% of the proceeds provided by GoFundMe from this account will go to Chris and Kara to assist with his recovery.
