For the Family of Sergeant Wilson

Donation protected

Sergeant Robert Wilson III was gunned down during an attempted robbery at a North Philadelphia GameStop on Thursday, March 5, 2015. Wilson, an eight-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, leaves behind two children, ages 10 and 1.

"He redefined what a hero is all about," Commissioner Ramsey said.

Officials said Wilson's actions kept store employees and customers from harm, despite an intense gun battle during which more than 50 shots were fired.

The officer had stopped at the store as a security check and to buy a game for his older son for his birthday and as a reward for good grades in school.

*Updated 15 March 2015 to reflect Wilson's posthumous promotion to the rank of Sergeant.

I work closely with the Police Department and upon trying to make a contribution myself, noticed that there wasn't any way for individuals to donate online. I'm coordinating this campaign with the Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #5.

This fund has been set up for the family of slain Philadelphia Police Officer Robert Wilson III. Funds raised will be provided directly to the trust fund established by members of the FOP and Police Department.
