Official Justice For Richard Stephen Fund

Late Wednesday night, June 3rd, 2020 my older brother Richard Stephen and his girlfriend Jessica were ambushed and assaulted  by a group of people while walking back to Jessica’s apartment in Moorhead, MN. This resulted in my brother later being hospitalized and succumbing to his injuries.

He was only 33 years old. 

Richard was a loving son, brother, cousin, uncle, friend, and coworker. He came to America as a young immigrant escaping a civil war in South Sudan and like many others dreamed of living the American dream. He had plans for a better future, to go back to school and get a better career, unfortunately those plans were cut short. Richard loved sports, hanging with friends and family, and just having a good time. If a stranger ever saw him they were met with a smile, he was so loving, trustworthy, and kind.


Richard also helped to support extended family in Uganda, and now those family members have suffered a devastating loss as well. Richard will be deeply missed and there is no amount of words that can express the pain my family is going through. This was such a senseless act of violence and disregard for human life.


Richard leaves behind parents, sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles and other extended family in Uganda.
