Luella Shaffer's Cancer Battle - Love for Lue
Donation protected
This fundraiser is organized on behalf of Luella Shaffer’s family.
Let’s rally around the Shaffer family as Luella James battles against a brain tumor.
This is Luella.
She is five-years-old, and will graduate from pre-school on Thursday, May 27 from Big Wood School in Ketchum. She loves her big brother Huntley, her family, butterflies, rainbows, unicorns, music, crafts ...
and politics.
On Tuesday, May 18th, 2021, Luella’s mom Paula, took her to the Ketchum Emergency Room after a possible seizure. Imaging located a mass on her brain. She was immediately transported to Boise via ambulance. Through it all, Luella has been brave and kept her sweet, positive outlook.
Additional testing revealed that the mass is a tumor. Luella is now facing 20+ seizures per day. As the family awaits additional imaging, diagnostics, and a surgical plan, we are hoping to help ease some of the stress of this medical emergency. While support needed for the full journey is unknown, the uncovered ambulance ride and uninsured medical expenses already exceed $25,000.
The Shaffers will need our support throughout this challenging journey. Paula has taken a leave of absence from her job at Valley Apothecary in Ketchum. Our financial support will help lessen the blow of some of the uninsured medical costs related to Luella’s journey; while also helping ease the strain of lost income and travel costs related to ensuring this little girl has every shot possible given this challenging diagnosis.
Please continue to keep Luella, her brother Huntley, her father Jamie Briscoe and mother Paula Kay Shaffer, grandparents, family, and classmates in your prayers. Together, we are Lue's Crew, the Unicorn Battalion, and we are stronger together.
