OFFLOAD23 - TACKLE THE STIGMA
Donation protected
SPARTANS RUGBY is a combined team of players who are currently serving or a veteran of either the Australian Defence Force or a member of a Australian State Police Force. Current the majority of the players coming from the Royal Australian Signals Corps (Army)and the Queensland Police Force. Based in the Southeast region of Queensland the SPARTANS play out of the Highfields, Toowoomba area.
SPARTANS Rugby was established to raise funds for charities throughout the region while its players enjoy playing a free-flowing Barbarians style of play to entertain.
To date, SPARTANS have successfully raised money for events such as the Brett Forte Trust, Brain Cancer Australia, and Mates4Mates. Our next event will see the team embark on its biggest and most ambitious event to date when OFFLOAD23 takes place 14/15 October!
The event will see the team attempt to raise at-least $100,000 during Queensland Mental Health Week. Our target is to support several Military and Police Charities that support mental health conditions amongst its members.
The SPARTANS will promote awareness of the stigmas often attached to the symptoms of mental health conditions.
So how will SPARTANS do this?
Once again with their crazy ideas, the team will aim to set a new World Record for the "Longest Touch Rugby Match" over the weekend of 14-15 October, playing non-stop for over 34 hours! Two teams, one Army and one Police with each team having 14 players , 6 on the field and with 8 replacements.
