UNICEF Children in Ukraine
Donation protected
Our Founder's story is the American Dream. In 1989 Joseph Sipershteyn finally gained permission to leave the Soviet Union. He left all his possessions, took his wife, parents, and daughter Alexandra, and they got on a train leaving their city of Chernivtsi in Western Ukraine, not knowing which country would accept them. Eventually, they gained permission to come to the USA, and in coming to America, they gained freedom and opportunity. Grateful for this country each and every day, there is a heavy heart over the escalating situation in Ukraine. “As we sit here in safety, we are terrified for those we left behind,” says Alexandra. As the need for aid for the Ukrainian people has arisen, we are compelled to help.
The outpour of support we received in the last 2 weeks has been incredible. Many friends and customers reached out asking what they could do to help, so we wanted to share what we are doing as a company and see if you will join us.
Alexandra was 5 when she left Ukraine as a refugee but was fortunate to have both parents by her side. In the past week, more than 2 million refugees fled Ukraine seeking safety and protection. Among those fleeing are many unaccompanied children who have been separated from their families and are now at a heightened risk of violence, abuse and exploitation.
As a company, Ohio Lumex will be donating all funds from this campaign directly to UNICEF Ukraine and would love it if you would join us in this effort which we will match dollar for dollar so we can double our goal.
