OHIO SPCA FARM SANCTUARY: FILL OUR HAY BARN!

Hi! I work for the Ohio SPCA Farm Sanctuary. Every year, we use anywhere between 1,000 and 3,533 bales of hay at the Ohio SPCA Farm Sanctuary (located near Grove City, Ohio)*! We currently only have enough hay to feed our animals for a few weeks. This winter was a particularly rough one. There was a massive hay shortage and we never were able to completely fill our hay barn. Now, we're almost empty. We're asking for $8,000 to buy enough hay to fill our hay barn to stock up for the coming months in addition to next winter. At the Ohio SPCA Farm Sanctuary, we house rescued cows, sheep, goats, pigs, mini horses, horses, and pigeons. Most of those animals eat hay every day, even in the summer; our mini horses go through at least a bale per day, as they can't have grain or grass in their diet and rely on forage. Plus, a lot of our animals are special needs, such as our elderly (16+ year-old) goats. We feed only high-quality hay, and we usually have to pay for delivery to our farm sanctuary location in addition to the $5-6 per bale cost. We are NOT affiliated with other SPCA organizations or the ASPCA; we rely almost exclusively on donations from generous individuals like you.

More information about Ohio SPCA: The no-kill Ohio SPCA works to prevent and stop cruelty to animals throughout Ohio. Our mission falls into three main areas: 1) intervention in cases of animal cruelty, 2) the rescue and rehabilitation of countless farm and companion animals every year 3) bringing humane and proactive practices to county dog pounds. *(worse winters = more hay used; in Summer, we might only go through 1 bale in the goat barn per day... But in deep winter, we might go through 4 every day.)
