Okan "Ozzie" Zenger
Donation protected
On October 30, 2019 our neighbor, Okan “Ozzie” Zenger, a resident of Manahawkin, NJ, was critically injured in an unforeseen accident that resulted in heavy equipment falling on him and breaking his back. He was rushed to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he underwent extensive surgery including screws that were installed to hold his spine together. Unfortunately he has sustained a spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed from the waist down.
Okan has been transferred to Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ where he has begun physical and occupational therapy in the hopes he will regain movement and one day be able to walk again. The facility is almost two hours away from home where he lives with his wife and two children. He is expected to remain in Kessler for the next two months.
Okan is the owner of two flooring businesses, C&K Floor Covering, LLC and Zenger Flooring Supply, Inc. Unfortunately, now that the heart and soul of the companies is incapacitated and not available to conduct business operations on a daily basis, the household income will be suffering a loss as well for the unforeseeable future. His wife Semra will also have to take a leave of absence from her job to become his primary care giver when he returns from the rehabilitation center.
Anyone who knows Okan and this family knows that they are incredibly giving and supportive of people in need. He is a very endearing person with a heart of gold. He has been an active member of his community as well as a well-loved and respected volunteer soccer coach for many years.
The Zengers have had their lives turned upside down and could use some help at this time. In addition to the obvious physical and emotional trauma, there will be an exorbitant amount of medical bills for years to come as well as substantial financial challenges. Okan is a fighter and is determined to get back up on his feet again. Please consider donating any amount you can to help lessen the financial burden they are facing while he is on his journey to recovery.
