Old Colony & Newport Railway Vandalism Repairs
Tax deductible
In May of 2021 the Old Colony & Newport Railway was hit with the first case of serious vandalism in the organization's 42 year history. After a number of smaller incidents the railroad was once again hit on December 13, 2021 when the historic Old Colony equipment was broken into and vandalized. The damage was the worst ever of any of the incidents resulting in damages to the primary locomotive, 1884 Parlor Car, and 1904 coach. Windows were broken, interiors were trashed, graffiti was painted, and both wood passenger cars were unsuccessfully set on fire by the vandals resulting in thousands of dollars in damages. These one of a kind historic pieces of equipment are priceless and this fundraiser has been set up to help defray the cost of repairs.
