Old Goshenhoppen Reformed Church Cleanup
Donation protected
On Wednesday, May 29, 2019, Upper Salford Township was hit with straight line winds that went up to 120 mph. Much of the area was devastated with damage to houses, trees, and power lines. One of the most impacted is Old Goshenhoppen Reformed Church. Much of the church grounds was ripped up and destroyed with all of the downed trees, many including trees that were over 150 years old. Several windows also shattered in the event.
The church's main fundraiser every year is their Oyster Picnic, which has been running for 142 years! It is the main source of fundraising and income for the entire year. In order to host the picnic in September, the downed trees will have to be removed to get to the pavilion and kitchen area. The tree removal will be well over $20,000 (update: we found out it's actually over $40k now).
Old Goshenhoppen is a small rural church serving the community. This storm has impacted them financially and will make it difficult to get their church back to full operation. Please consider donating to this incredible loving community and their historic landmark that took quite a hit.
