Old Union Repairs

Old Union Church is an historical church (no longer in service) that was the home church of Bishop Levi Scott, the only Methodist bishop born in Delaware and an early advocate for African-Americans in Methodism. The interior of the church has suffered the ravages of time and moisture causing the old, plaster ceiling to fail. We are in the midst right now of a project to replace the ceiling, make repairs to wooden trim and paint everything to match the historic building. The cost for these repairs is $16,000 and is a heavy burden for the small group that maintains the building and holds two services a year. Any donations, large or small, will support this vital maintenance of a Methodist World Heritage site and the preservation of one of the most significant church buildings in America.
