NHS Head & neck cancer scanner appeal
Donation protected
Every second person reading this WILL get cancer. I am raising funds to purchase a cancer head & neck scanner for the NHS. This will enable patients to have a cancer scan at the first appointment & biopsies can be taken at the same time with no need for general anaesthetic. This not only saves resources & time, staff & money for the hospital but vastly speeds up diagnosis for patients as well easing anguish, stress & suffering. I was not diagnosed until 5 months after my initial GP visit by which time my cancer was stage 4 (there is NO stage 5, it’s death). By buying a scanner this situation would be avoided for countless patients of all ages in future. It could also avoid life changing surgery, invasive radiotherapy (mine was daily for 6 weeks) and also avoid horrible sickening chemotherapy Please please help, one day you may need it.
UPDATE - My surgeon Mr Alex Bowen BSc FRCS ORL-HNS (Consultant ENT Head & Neck Surgeon) who initially asked for the appeal has said funds may also be used to purchase & I quote, “Portable handheld ultrasound scanners. This will enable us to deliver USS guided biopsies dynamically in all our clinics”
