10/18/2023 - The outpouring of aloha you have shown our ohana is beyond what we thought could be possible and we are immensely touched by your generosity and kind words.
So far we have distributed your donations to each of our 298 employees and their families and have shared your stories with them all. Your messages of encouragement, support, and fond memories are truly amazing and have touched our hearts.
We have reopened this employee fundraiser after many requests from our future and past guests who wanted a way to donate directly to our ohana. Mahalo to everyone who has already donated or who plans to. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
Again, our deepest MAHALO and ALOHA to each of you!
***UPDATE*** 8/18/23 We are so grateful for all of the love and support you have shown our 298 employees! We continue to learn of the ways these fires have changed the lives of our families forever and through donations like yours, we will be able to share some relief to each and every one of them! Families are finding their way from shelters to transitional housing, clothes, food and necessities are available to each and transportation is being addressed.
Mahalo nui loa to all of you - our extended ohana! Through your generosity and kind words we are able to see hope for a future that includes you all. In the meantime, we will continue to focus on our employees and their needs.
***UPDATE*** 8/15/23 Of our 298 employees, 131 of them have lost their homes. Every dollar of your donations will reach the directly affected, prioritizing those who have the greatest need. We are currently taking the time to talk to each person in our work 'ohana to assess the extent of their losses and how we can best help with their specific needs.
Mahalo to each and every one of you that have donated to our employee fund thus far - we are unbelievably touched by your kindness. The outreach and outpouring of aloha has been so overwhelming and we could not be more grateful. We have recognized many of your names from your past visits to Old Lahaina Luau, Star Noodle, and Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop and look forward to sharing aloha with you all again.
On August 8, 2023, our beloved and historic Lahaina town was devastated by wildfires. Many of our 298 employees have either lost their homes or have been displaced due to this tragedy. While we are fortunate to report that most of our structures still stand; our employees have experienced life-changing losses.
As a company, we will rebuild, however, we honestly have no idea when tourism and our businesses will reopen in West Maui. Our employees are our priority, and we continue to support them in all ways. We are humbled by the outpouring of support from our many families, friends, colleagues, and guests who have recently asked how they can help - in response we have set up this page. 100% of the funds collected will be distributed to employees based on their needs, to help them with necessities in the interim as they rebuild their homes and their lives, which could take years.
The ‘ohana at Na Hoaloha Ekolu is a proud and supportive organization that has always put employees and the community first. We have been so blessed to share the aloha at our lu’au to almost four million guests since 1986, shared amazing meals with many more at Star Noodle and Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie shop, and have supported countless non-profit organizations through charitable donations and volunteer work during the past 37 years. For generations, Lahaina has been a town known for its pride and resilience. If you want to directly support our employees affected by the recent fires, please consider a donation to this campaign.
Me ka ha'aha'a (with Humility),
The employees of Old Lahaina Lu'au, Star Noodle, Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop and Na Hoaloha Ekolu
