Old Tree Nursery funds stolen!
Donation protected
Old Tree is a plant nursery located in South Staffordshire. It sits in 5.5 acres of beautiful land opposite a nature reserve.
Its purpose is to support, through training and employment opportunities, vulnerable people from the local community.
Old Tree believes in truly empowering our customers which is why we call them 'Team Members'. Many of whom have learning disabilities or mental health illness. We provide a safe and supportive environment to increase their confidence and provide them with opportunities in life to work and be part of a team.
On the evening of the 4th of October Old Tree was broken into. The intruders forced entry to the rear of the site and removed the site safe as well as various tools stored in the out buildings.
The money in the safe was as a direct result of hard work from the team members to fund raise. This included tea parties, fun day and bag packing at the local supermarket. Old Tree was saving to buy a marquee which would enable us to hold functions to raise more money! Even worse, some of the money was to be put towards the students Christmas Party- as a reward for working so hard throughout the year.
On the morning, when the devastation in the offices was discovered, many of the team members were in tears- they simply couldn't understand how people could be so cruel- many told us they didn't sleep that night for fear that they would be robbed.
Old Tree is a 'Not for Profit' Project and every penny we make gets reinvested into the work we do here. We have amazing plans for the future and know the work we do here really makes a difference to people.
This has knocked us hard and puts us back by months. Any funds donated to this will always be spent directly on the project and the people who need our support. To re coup our lost funds will mean we can re book our Christmas party and press ahead with plans to purchase a marquee.
Thank you is just a word- but it would be said with 100% conviction. Your donation will make a massive difference and show our team members that the world isn't such a bad place and that good people do exist.
