Odyssey of the Mind State Tourney

Odyssey of the Mind is an educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.
This year was the very first year that Olive Elementary participated in this program. We had 6 kids join a team and they immediately began trying to interpret the classic story of "Pandora's Box." The kids had to do an interpretive skit of the story, making all of their own costumes, writing their own script, and designing their own stage and background. One of the biggest rules is that the students did not receive any help from adults.
The kids worked extremely hard and went up against 10 other teams in their division. They came in second place and found out that they get to advance to the state finals at UC Riverside down in southern California. We are trying to fundraise the money to be able to get all of the kids down to Riverside on March 28 to participate in the California State Finals.
The fundraising will help cover:
1. Hotel costs
2. Gas
3. Regional pins that the kids trade with other regions
4. Lanyards to hold the pins
5. Any incidentals that may come up
Thank you in advance for all of your help!
